The German came fourth, but had good pace to fight for victory until the red flag.
This Saturday (06) took place the fourth edition of the São Paulo ePrix, which has been taking place in the capital of São Paulo since 2023. Jake Dennis, 2022 champion and teammate of the Brazilian Felipe Drugoivch, was this year’s big winner.
The race was marked by strategies, intense disputes for the lead and a denouement at the end, when Pepe Martí suffered a frightening accident, which caused a red flag that could have ended the race, but where the race direction opted for a comeback and maintained the end with a single lap under green flag, without any change in the result before the stoppage.
Pascal Wehrlein, who was one of the highlights of the day after leading the first practice session and taking pole position (a position from which he did not start because he suffered a three-place penalty shortly before the final duel), had everything he needed to shine and fight for victory, but was hampered by interference. The Porsche driver spoke exclusively about:
Yes, it was great today. We were very strong all day. The race was obviously compromised. During the intervention, in the end we couldn’t complete the attack mode, which is a shame, but that’s how Formula E is. Maybe we could have fought for the victory, but in the end we finished P4. It was a little frustrating, but that’s how it is.
After the opening race, Jake Dennis leads the championship with his unprecedented victory in Brazil. Formula E will not return to the tracks until 2026, on January 10, in Mexico.
