During this Christmas shopping season, when many people are changing their cell phones or choosing a new device for their gift, two Apple models have caught the attention of Brazilian consumers: the iPhone Air and the iPhone 17 Pro.
Both were launched in September by Apple, but they have more differences between them than price. GLOBO has analyzed the characteristics of the two models for those who have doubts.

The iPhone Air is one of the most sought-after models by phone companies in the country this year-end, tied with the iPhone 17 Pro, according to industry officials surveyed by GLOBO.
Apple’s thinnest and lightest cell phone, the iPhone Air’s special features go beyond thickness and weight. This model is the company’s first to work only with e-SIM, the virtual chip of telephone operators.
Although it has several features present in the iPhone 17 Pro, such as the processor intended for artificial intelligence, you should be aware of the differences compared to the rest of the range when choosing the model.
Money is not everything, but it is 100%, as the popular saying goes. Nothing better than starting the comparison between models by price.
The iPhone Air starts at R$10,499 for the version with 256 GB of storage and goes up to R$13,499 for the option with 1 TB of internal memory. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at R$11,499 for the 256 GB version and reaches R$14,499 for the 1 TB model.

Ideal for those looking for a model with a unique design. The iPhone Air is only 5.64mm thick and weighs around 165 grams. The iPhone 17 Pro is 8.75mm thick and weighs approximately 204 grams.
In addition, the model has specific accessories, such as covers with a distinct design, including the “Bumper”, which only protects the edges without covering the back, created to highlight the ultra-thin appearance. The Air also has a specific mobile battery, MagSafe for iPhone Air.
The Air’s screen measures 6.5 inches, compared to 6.3 inches on the 17 Pro, ideal for those who like larger models.
Both models have the same screen technology (OLED, brightness level and refresh rate which allow smoother images).
Using just the e-SIM, there was more internal space, so the battery lasted virtually the same as the 17 series models. Even though it’s thinner and lighter, the iPhone Air promises up to 27 hours of video playback, four less than the 17 Pro.
One of the main advantages of the iPhone Air is that it has the same chip (A19 Pro) as the iPhone 17 Pro. Thus, for use in social networks, applications in general and photography, the Air delivers power equivalent to that of the Pro. The difference is that the Pro, by having an additional core in its graphics card (GPU), can deliver faster video editing for example)

In terms of cameras, the iPhone Air has a 48-megapixel rear sensor, capable of recording high-resolution photos and with good low-light performance. It offers two levels of optical zoom, sufficient for daily use.
The iPhone 17 Pro, however, remains in the lead with five zoom levels and a range of up to eight times.
On the front camera, the iPhone Air launches, like the Pro, the Center Stage system, which uses AI to keep the user always in the frame during video calls, automatically adjusting as they move.
For video, the Air records in 4K at 60 frames per second, while the Pro also shoots in 4K at 60 frames per second. The higher the number of frames, the sharper and smoother the images.
