MADRID, December 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least 14 people died and 34 others were injured on Saturday in the southern Algerian town of Tabelbalatras after a bus overturned for reasons still unknown, state news agency APN reported, citing emergency services.
The accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. (local time) this Saturday when a passenger bus left the national road 50 on which it was traveling and overturned on the route which connects the towns of Beni Abbes and Tindouf, leaving a “particularly high” death toll, according to Civil Protection.
After learning the news, Algerian President Abdelmayid Tebune expressed “with deep regret and pain” his “most sincere condolences and solidarity with the families of the deceased victims”, in a publication on his social network X account.
For the moment, no further details have been released on the circumstances in which the accident occurred or its causes.
