The diplomat’s statement came on Tuesday (11/11), during a ceremony held in Brasilia to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the African country’s independence.
Santos said: “Angola and Brazil have now become natural and strategic partners, and their heads of state, Presidents Lula da Silva and João Lourenço, stressed in Brasilia last May the importance of strengthening and deepening the historical, cultural and friendship relations between the two peoples and countries, as well as raising the diverse and mutually beneficial strategic cooperation relations to a new level.”
According to the head of the Angolan diplomatic mission in Brazil, the foreign offices of both countries are engaged in a “process of expanding the strategic partnership,” with the aim of transforming the alliance into a “model of Brazilian-African cooperation.”
