Revuelta, the youth organization linked to Vox, is in the middle of a crisis. The organization which organized the demonstrations in front of the PSOE headquarters and whose supporters claimed responsibility for the altercations in Paiporta after the dana, where the President of the Government was attacked, is going through a delicate moment. The vice-president and another member of the management resigned, filed a complaint with the public prosecutor’s office for lack of transparency in their accounts and launched accusations concerning an alleged embezzlement of funds collected for the victims of the dana of October 29, 2024 in Valencia.
The youth organization’s former vice-president, Arturo Villarroya, an advisor to ultra MEP Jorge Buxadé in Brussels, issued a statement on December 5 after filing a complaint with the public prosecutor’s office, alongside Javier Esteban, another member of the board of directors. As he himself indicates, “alleged serious irregularities, possible fraud in the destination of funds and in the collection of contributions without associated rights” are reported.
“It is unacceptable that they took over the association, that they succeeded with such cover-up and alleged bad practices, and that they gradually and deliberately dragged REVUELTA towards political and personal distancing from VOX for personal interests. At present, we do not know who they work for and what interests they serve,” Villarroya says of the leadership of the organization, led by Jaime Hernández.
Villarroya points out that he and his partner requested access to “account movements, to know the destination of the funds collected for DANA, the tax presentation, possible direct payments to Jaime Hernández or his company PICAPORTE, possible cash withdrawals and any contracts concluded on behalf of REVUELTA”, which was refused.
The organization defends in a press release that the funds raised were intended to “help people affected by natural disasters and social mobilization for patriotic causes” and speaks of “false accusations”. “Revuelta has been the subject of attempts at interference by people professionally linked to VOX. Their objective has been to take control of the organization, influence our internal decisions and condition the independence of this association.” They claim that they failed to turn over the documentation so that it would not be used in partisan causes and that “they attempted to politically appropriate nonpartisan citizen aid when the disaster occurred and, while they were unable to control the structure, they spread lies about our activity.”
