
Santa Catarina could record an increase in the number of floods by 2100, according to a study carried out by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), in partnership with the National Water Agency. The document, published last week, worries experts on the subject.

The maximum flow of frequent floods is expected to increase by 17% in Santa Catarina. This increase could increase flood levels by up to three meters in rivers in mountainous regions and up to one meter in flat regions.
