McLaren’s Lando Norris celebrated his first Formula 1 championship and ended Max Verstappen’s four-year reign by finishing third in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this Sunday.
Verstappen, winner of more races (eight) than any other driver this year, triumphed at the end of the season, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri second.
Norris, who became Britain’s 11th Formula One world champion, finished the season with 423 points, compared to 421 for Verstappen and 410 for Piastri.
McLaren, which won the constructors’ championship in October for the second year in a row, won both titles in the same season for the first time since 1998.
