Born in Chicago and naturalized Mexican, Yampolski He forged a unique path in which photography became a means to understand and visualize the reality of rural communities.
Since the mid-20th century, he has traveled with his camera to various regions of Mexico, building a visual archive that has become a reference in Latin American documentary photography. The exhibition highlights that his “warm, respectful and deeply human” gaze focused on the gestures, rituals, traditions and stories that constitute the identities of multiple peoples.

The photographer’s field work enabled her to capture scenes for decades that are now unrepeatable evidence of changing ways of life. The exhibition includes material preserved by the Image Center of Mexicowhere the collection dedicated to the artist is kept and has been recognized by UNESCO as a documentary heritage.
According to the organizers, through this selection the Argentine audience will be able to get closer to one of the most powerful visual voices in Latin America, whose work reminds us that photographic art – in addition to being a historical document – can be an act of presence, a form of respect and a way of being in the world.
