Tycoon Elon Musk is back attack the European Union after the European Commission announced a fine of 120 million euros to X, the social network it owns, for the “misleading design” of its blue account verification mark.
In a message written precisely in X this Sunday, Musk wrote: “The European Union is not a DEMOCRACY – a government of the people – but BUREAUcracy – government of unelected bureaucrats.
Musk spent much of Sunday attacking the EU, retweeting messages such as “The European Union is starting to represent an existential threat for European freedom and sovereignty.
He also shared a video of Donald TrumpPresident of the United States, in which he criticizes the immigration policies of the Old Continent: “They have been invaded by a force of illegal immigrants like never before. Illegal immigrants are coming to Europe in droves. Nobody is doing anything to change that, to expel them. It’s not sustainable.”
This week, the European Commission ruled that the tick the blue of a seal of authenticity by users while their access is discretionary, which violates the obligations of the European Digital Services Act (DSA).
The sanction announced by Brussels also responds to other irregularities sanctioned by the DSA such as the lack of transparency of its announcement repository and the non-compliance with its obligation to authorize access to data by researchers.
