Vladimir Putin’s government said the new US national security strategy was broadly “consistent” with Russia’s worldview.
In an interview this Sunday, July 12, the Kremlin spokesperson welcomed the measures presented by the American government, based on the nationalist approach of President Donald Trump.
“The adjustments that we have observed, I would say, are generally in line with our vision,” Dmitry Peskov said on state TV channel Rossia.
Peskov also added that it is expected that the Trump administration’s new directive could “serve as a modest guarantee of (Russia’s) ability to constructively continue joint work to find a peaceful solution in Ukraine.”

The document released by the United States outlines the main military direction of the Trump administration. The new national security strategy now pays greater attention to Latin America.
The text also confirms a sort of resumption of the Monroe Doctrine, this time applied to the Latin American region, where Trump maintains clashes with Colombia and Venezuela.
According to the document, the United States “will begin implementing the Monroe Doctrine to restore American preeminence in the Western Hemisphere” and to protect both its territory and access to “key geographic areas of the region.”
No NATO
The document released by the White House states that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) – a US-led military alliance – will not be expanded, frustrating the expectations of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who sees the bloc’s expansion as a way to broker peace.
Regarding Europe, the text criticizes the European Union, holding it responsible for the so-called risk of “civilizational extinction”, while at the same time sparing Russia itself from any negative mention.
