Madrid, December 7 (EFECOM).- The four Spanish stock exchanges (Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia) will open this Monday, December 8, the day of the national holiday of the Immaculate Conception.
According to the calendar set by the Spanish Stock Exchange and Market Economy (BME) for 2025, European stock markets will only close their doors on six public holidays.
Until this date, the Spanish market remained closed on January 1st, New Year’s Day; April 18, Good Friday; on April 21, Easter Monday, and last May 1, International Workers’ Day.
The next public holidays on which the Spanish stock exchange will be closed are December 25th, Christmas and Thursday December 26th.
On Wednesday, December 24th, Christmas Eve, and Wednesday, December 31st, New Year’s Eve, the market will run for half a session until 2:00 p.m.
Next year, the Spanish stock exchange will be closed for five public holidays, one fewer than in 2025, as December 26 falls on a Saturday.
The rest will be like 2025. The market will not open on Thursday, January 1st, New Year’s Day; Friday, April 3, Good Friday; Monday, April 6, Easter Monday; Friday, May 1st, International Workers’ Day; and Friday, December 25, Christmas.
Since 1998, the stock exchanges of Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao and Valencia have maintained a unified calendar of meetings with Europe so that there are no distortions in securities prices and arbitration proceedings between the different stock exchanges are largely avoided.
In 2005, the Spanish stock market began a gradual shortening of its holidays to bring them in line with major European stock exchanges, which were closed for fewer days than in Spain. EFECOM
