After freeing Inter from relegation in the Brazilian Championship, Abel Braga was emotional and spoke of a possible continuation at the club next season.
There were only two matches, but Abel Braga once again made history at Internacional. This Sunday (7), Inter scored 3-1 at Red Bull Bragantino, in Beira-Rio, and, thanks to parallel results, escaped relegation to Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. After the match, the coach even declared that this moment was more important than the World Cup won in 2006, against Barcelona.
“My wife said I had a crazy attitude. I arrived confident. But I didn’t do anything alone. There is a legacy, not from Abel, but we can’t even imagine Inter reliving that. That moment was much more important than the World Cup. There, if I were runner-up, it would be the second greatest team in the world, I would be happy. But the obligation was on the other. Today it was much more important. I know the pain, I know how Colorado felt. I helped save Inter from relegation,” Abel Braga told a press conference.
“I’m not going to talk about a statue. I already received a very important thing, which was my name at the Fluminense training camp. It was in life. Everything in life is cool. It doesn’t depend on me. Life will go on, we’ll see what happens. It’s no use, I don’t know,” Abel added about possible tributes.
Abel talks about the future at Inter
Despite calls from fans at the end of the match, Abel Braga confirmed he was retiring from his coaching career. However, he left the possibility of remaining at Inter in another role.
“Of course there will be a conversation. The coach is finished. He is no longer a part of me. It was exciting to experience all that, with the recruiting department, the videos, the conversation. To relive it was fantastic. But for me it worked. I took two tranquilizers before arriving at the game. I believed in it, but I had to be careful. I would feel the same as the fans and the management. It was incredible. But this team did it. Let’s see”, declared Abel Braga.
