Impeachment Act
“STF has ministers divided over Gilmar decision on impeachment” (Politics, 6/12). The members of Congress behind these secret amendments want to overthrow the STF ministers who are investigating these amendments.
Daniel Choma (Florianopolis, South Carolina)
Balance of checks and balances between the three powers is necessary. If deputies and senators can dismiss a minister from the Supreme Court, ministers must also be able to dismiss a deputy or senator. In case of a tie, the third power breaks the tie, for this there are three.
Ernesto Pichler (São Paulo, SP)
It was the STF that ensured governability during Bolsonaro’s bad government. They must have acted at different times. In the aberrant ineffectiveness of a Congress, elected by the Bolsonarist ultra-right, which has only one project: to have a majority in the Senate, to dismiss certain ministers. Having already usurped the powers of the Executive, they now intend to have the Supreme Court in their pocket. They only want decisions that favor them. Gilmar anticipated.
Anete Araujo Guedes (Belo Horizonte, MG)
Under negotiation
“Flávio Bolsonaro admits he won’t pursue his candidacy to the end, but says he will charge ‘a price’” (Politics, 7/12). Great proof that he knows his small size, if there was the slightest chance of victory, he wouldn’t give up. A shameless maneuver using the father’s popularity to negotiate, and worse, he will find someone who will pay the price.
Magnalva Lima da Rocha (Belo Horizonte, MG)
Cynics say we all have our price, but the rush to reveal it can only be the result of desperation.
Alberto Melis Bianconi (Taubate, SP)
2026 elections
“Datafolha: 8% think Bolsonaro should support Flávio, 22% Michelle and 20% Tarcísio” (Politics, 6/12). It seems that at the moment all the winds are blowing in favor of Lula, but since there is still a lot of time to register the candidacies and no one knows which direction the right-wing parties will take, it is not possible to plan anything at the moment.
Jose Mota (São Paulo, SP)
Luxury developments
“Marginal Pinheiros wins two clubs with surf pools and monthly fees of up to R$3,300” (Daily Life, 7/12). Super cool idea, but the proposal to make it extremely elitist left the project very hostile. Damage.
Carlos Eduardo Martins (São Paulo, SP)
Great, if all Brazilians could have a bathroom and a shower to bathe properly.
Rosangela Sylvestrin (Farroupilha, RS)
Assault
“An armed duo invades the Mário de Andrade library and steals works of art by Matisse and Portinari” (Daily, 7/12). And Smart Sampa, pride of municipal and state management? Are you in the SP center and can’t find it? Facts always prevail over misleading narratives that seek to show a simplistic solution to the problem of public safety.
Renato Romero (São Paulo, SP)
An abandoned symbol of Brazilian culture, unprotected by poor public management that neglects art, education and culture.
Jose Soares (São Paulo, SP)
Femicide
“Home is the most dangerous place for a woman” (Giovana Madalosso, 7/12). This title could become a campaign slogan. A truth hidden in the biggest lie that exists: “a woman’s place is at home”.
Rocia Oliveira (Brasilia, DF)
meeting
“’At 57, I discovered I was kidnapped as a baby and found my real family’” (Daily Life, 6/12). Life really is a punch in the gut. The desire to belong pushed the son to seek the links in this broken past to construct the family story.
Marguerite Santos (Aracaju, SE)
With this spirit of investigation and perseverance, it is possible to fill the gaps in families, however delicate and painful they may be.
Paloma Fonseca (Brasilia, DF)
Awareness
“A book tells how a palimpsest containing the writings of Archimedes was recovered” (Hélio Schwartsman, 6/12). This proves that knowledge is only valuable when it is shared.
Roberto Ramos (São Luís de Montes Belos, GO)
