In yet another episode of the public fight between two parliamentarians from the evangelical bench, federal deputy Antônia Lúcia (Republicanos-AC) refuted, on her social networks, a statement published on Saturday by also the deputy Silas Câmara (Republicanos-AM), her ex-husband.
The parliamentarian, who accuses Silas of marital betrayal, suggested that the MP take a “drug test” and said she had recorded fights with the MP, who previously chaired the Evangelical Parliamentary Front in the House.
“I decided to record it in part. I have the video from more than a year and a half ago in which he said that he would only take the exam if I presented myself to the civil registry before handing him the consensual divorce. (…) And I leave it in the file: if a lock of hair falls from my head, the whole list of information and documents that I can is already in the hands of the competent authorities”, wrote the deputy on the networks.
Antônia had already spoken out against the MP last Tuesday, also on social networks. At the time, she called Silas “unfaithful and demoralized” and accused him of conduct in the private sphere that would go against his image as a religious leader.
In response to his ex-wife’s posts, Silas said that “betrayal, debauchery or anything along those lines is not consistent” with his conduct. “It’s really absurd,” repudiated the MP.
Silas is the brother of Pastor Samuel Câmara, leader of the Assembly of God in Belém (PA), a church that is the cradle of one of the largest evangelical denominations in Brazil. The MP already led the evangelical bench between 2019 and 2020, then took over this position between 2023 and 2024.
