First it was in New York, where the… “Charly Garcia Corner”where Uberto Sagramoso took the historic photo that ended up on the cover of Modern clicks. Well, the architect of this initiative, Mariano Cabrerahas reached a new milestone: that the great Argentine musician has his corner in Buenos Aires, obviously at the intersection of the streets that indicate the location of his historic home: Coronel Díaz and Santa Fe.
The tribute, which was inaugurated yesterday afternoon in the presence of the authorities of the city of Buenos Aires and the musicians of the Charly tribute band Beats Modernos (Fabián Quintiero, Rosario Ortega and Fernando Samalea, (among other things) consists of three corner points. The first is the iconic corner we mentioned, where a commemorative plaque and related signage were discovered. The second cornerstone is Bulnes Station on the D subway line, which will be entirely dedicated to the author of “The Dinosaurs”. Finally, the third corner consists of a large wall terrace in Palermo Off, Arenales 3339 (corner of Coronel Díaz).
In this place, formerly known as Paseo del Sol, was the bar Planeta Júpiter, where Charly García attended and performed notable surprise shows, some of them very long and with many guest musicians.
The inauguration Charly Garcia corner This was preceded by a series of activities, including an exhibition of portraits by the plastic artist Juan Riviere on the founder of Sui Generis, The Bird Making Machine and Serú Girán, and the screening of the documentary film at the Usina del Arte Modern Clix, superpowersby Iñaki Rojas and Roberto Mons, which tells the exciting story of the graffiti that formed the album’s cover Modern clicks.
From now on, Buenos Aires, as happens in other cities of the world (without going further, in New York we find the traces left by the great artists in murals, street corners and memorial plaques), Buenos Aires will have another tourist spot, Charly’s Corner: to take photos, look forward to entering the same intersection of avenues that Charly has passed hundreds of times, or simply see if they are lucky enough to coincide with a Charly exit.
