Madrid, December 6 (EFE). – The president of the government, Pedro Sánchez, and the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, have wished all Spaniards a “Happy Constitution Day” on social networks, and while the government calls for respecting it to advance equality, the president of the opposition party points out the importance of knowing this.
“Today we celebrate 47 years of democracy, freedom, rights and coexistence. Respect for the Constitution is the best way to move towards a future of equality and social justice, with strong public services that improve people’s lives,” Sánchez emphasized in X before commemorations of this anniversary began in Congress.
Feijóo stressed on the same social network that defending the Spanish Constitution “also means knowing it”, and although he agreed with the desire for a joyful celebration, he suggested that schools should teach a subject to transmit its values and principles, “without ideologies”.
In a video, the PP reminds that Spaniards are equal before the law, that Spain is a social and democratic state based on the rule of law and that the constitution recognizes freedom of education.
In this sense, Feijóo points out that a popular government will establish a theme in the Magna Carta to teach its values and principles to ensure that Spaniards “live in freedom, in moderation and in equality, regardless of the territory or their beliefs.” EFE
