The United States, Israel and Qatar held a trilateral meeting in New York on Sunday (July 12, 2025), a senior White House official said, months after Israeli jets carried out an airstrike in Doha.
The government official confirmed that the meeting had taken place, but did not provide details of the meeting, the preparations for which were kept strictly confidential.
Two sources told the outlet Axios It was “the highest-level meeting between the countries since the agreement to end the war in Gaza, in which Qatar served as a key mediator.”

Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, was involved in negotiating a comprehensive ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, which remains sensitive as both accuse each other of violating its terms.
On Saturday, Qatar and Egypt called for the withdrawal of Israeli troops and the deployment of an international stabilization force to fully implement the fragile agreement to end the conflict in Gaza.
Axios reported that the focus of Sunday’s meeting was largely on “the implementation of the Gaza peace agreement.”
The Israeli attack in Doha on September 9 unsuccessfully targeted Hamas’ chief negotiator, Khalil Al Hayya, and other members of the Palestinian group.
The attack killed six people and sparked a wave of criticism, including a rebuke from US President Donald Trump.
