Captain, idol and most successful player in Flamengo history (alongside Arrascaeta), Bruno Henrique had a magical 2025 season. It happened on the ground. In the criminal field, the attacker found himself accused of having manipulated the results for the benefit of bettors.
On November 1, 2023, the match between Flamengo and Santos, valid for the Brazilian championship, took place at the Mané Garrincha stadium, in Brasilia. The match ended 1-0 for Baixada Santista’s team, but Bruno Henrique’s yellow card was the highlight of the match.

In stoppage time of the match, Bruno Henrique received a yellow card for a foul. The striker was then sent off with a second yellow card for complaining about the penalty handed out by the referee. The card which looked like something from a game was investigated after bookmakers verified a large volume of bets for the athlete to receive a yellow card.
After almost two years of investigation, the Federal Police (PF) indicted Bruno Henrique for gambling fraud and embezzlement. The indictment took place in April and was demonstrated first-hand by the Metropolises.

The PF document shows conversations between the Flamengo striker and his brother Wander Nunes Pinto Júnior, in which there was an alleged agreement for Bruno Henrique to take the card against Santos.
Watch one of the conversations:
“Uncle, do you have 2 Brazilian cards?”
Bruno Henrique answers: “Yes”.
Wander continues: “When (people) tell us to take the 3, call us, hahaha”
Bruno Henrique answers: “Against Santos”.
Then Wander writes, “How many weeks from now?”
Bruno Henrique: “Look on Google”
Wander: “October 29”, “Will you be able to survive without a map by then hahaha”
Based on the indictment, the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT) filed a complaint in June against the attacker for alleged participation in a betting system.
A month later, the 7th Criminal Court of Brasilia partially upheld the MPDFT’s complaint and named Bruno Henrique as a defendant for match manipulation. The institution was not satisfied with the court’s understanding and appealed against the acceptance of the crime of embezzlement.
Last Thursday (12/04), the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Federal Districts and Territories Court (TJDFT) accepted the MPDFT’s appeal and opened criminal proceedings against Bruno Henrique for embezzlement.
Bruno Henrique now faces legal action for match manipulation and embezzlement.
Sports justice
In sports justice, the Bruno Henrique case is now closed. Initially, the 1st Disciplinary Commission of the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) sentenced Bruno Henrique to a 12-match suspension and the payment of a fine of R$60,000 for manipulation of results.
After the trial, the player’s defense filed a request for suspensive effect. The request was granted and the matter was referred to the full STJD. During the Plenum, the player was found guilty of forcing a yellow card against Santos. However, Bruno Henrique was not suspended, but fined R$100,000.
