Moscow, December 6 (EFE). – Russian anti-aircraft forces shot down five Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over the Leningrad region today, the Russian Defense Ministry reported this Saturday on its Telegram channel.
“Between 8:00 and 11:00 Moscow time (GMT+3), air defense systems destroyed five Ukrainian unmanned fixed-wing aircraft over the territory of the Leningrad region,” the military report said.
The Leningrad Region is located in northwestern Russia, more than 700 kilometers from the nearest point of the Ukrainian border.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense reported yesterday evening that 116 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were shot down over ten regions of the country, which did not include Leningrad.
According to the official Russian agency TASS, due to the drone attacks, airports in the cities of Yaroslavl and Tambov, the capitals of the regions of the same name, have temporarily suspended operations to ensure the safety of flights.
Ukraine launches attack drones daily against Russian territory with the aim of damaging its energy system and especially its oil processing capacities, damaging the Russian army’s logistics and depriving Russia of this important source of funding.EFE
