Tuesday (12/09), the day is expected to be rainy from early morning, due to the worsening of the low atmospheric pressure system, which is expected to cause heavy rain and wind, with gusts above 70 km/h. According to the CGE, heavier rainfall should be expected for Brazil’s three southern states and much of São Paulo, including the São Paulo metropolitan area and the coast.
On Wednesday (10/12), the rains are expected to decrease in São Paulo, as the depression will descend and act on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul, however the condition of strong winds persists in the territory of São Paulo.
Hail, winds and rain showers
- According to Civil Defense, Monday has already started with records of light and moderate rain in very isolated points in the west and northwest of São Paulo, in addition to the Campinas region.
- Throughout the day, the agency warns of areas of instability that advance from Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul towards São Paulo, “spreading rain in all regions.”
- Conditions are favorable for moderate to heavy rain showers, as well as lightning, gusty winds and even the risk of hail in isolated spots in the west-central and eastern parts of the state.
- “In western São Paulo, accumulations could be high,” Civil Defense said.
