THE rotation of Sao Paulo (SP) will be suspended at the end of the year, announced the capital’s Traffic Engineering Company (CET). The measure will therefore not be valid between December 22, 2025 and January 9, 2026..
According to the CET, the suspension comes due to the decrease in vehicle movements recorded during the last days of December and early January. Interrupting the rotation at this time of year is already common practice in the capital.
The rotation is valid again the same day January 12, 2026 (Monday) — between January 10 and 11, the rotation remains suspended because there are no longer any traffic restrictions on weekends — following the usual format, with restrictions from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., depending on the following end of plates:
- Monday: finals 1 and 2;
- Tuesday: finals 3 and 4;
- Wednesday: finals 5 and 6;
- THURSDAY: finals 7 and 8;
- Friday: finals 9 and 0.
There is, however, an exception: the trucks are not suspended and continue to drive normally. Traffic remains prohibited from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., depending on the end of the sign. During the rotation, trucks cannot circulate in the Expanded Center. The restriction also extends to the Minianel Viário, which includes Tietê and Pinheiros roads, Avenida dos Bandeirantes, Complexo Maria Maluf, Tancredo Neves avenues, Juntas Provisórias, Professor Luís Inácio de Anhaia Melo and Salim Farah Maluf.

The Maximum Charter Restriction Zone (MRZ) remains valid in the capital. This is an area of approximately 70 km² in the center where charter vehicles (buses and minibuses) have limited circulation. In this region, the circulation of these vehicles is prohibited from Monday to Friday, from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the exception of public holidays.
