The mind and flamenco art of Jerez de la Frontera It becomes special as Christmas approaches and presents itself with celebrations that come from family and neighborhood gatherings around a bonfire and where flamenco songs are sung, … couplets and popular songs accompanied by typical instruments such as the guitar, pitcher, tambourine either zamboman instrument that gives its name to the festival: zambomba flamenco.
The atmosphere in these zambombas is very popular and everyone who is part of it they sing, play and dance with a spontaneity and an innate art that surprises those who contemplate it.
They take place in squares, streets, tabancos – bars typical of the region – but also in closed places. Whoever contemplates it can also touch the palms and participate by singing the songs that are performed as well as the “start” of the dance invited by one of the members.
The zambombas of Jerez enjoy more and more fame, so much so that they have been declared Property of Cultural Interest (BIC) and they became a very important tourist attraction during the month before Christmas, that is, from November 20 to December 24 at around noon.
There are a few that you cannot miss in this city of Cádiz and arrive early to be able to see them up close. It’s best to have those that require entry in advance.
