At least 100 animals, including snakes, crocodiles, rabbits, monkeys, peacocks and ocelots, are part of the family of Beatriz Lopez, 30, Andre Boulogne, 38, and the couple’s daughter, Alice, 9. Located in Jacare, within São Paulo, the land where they live, in addition to the family home, has enclosures built and adapted for each species.
Family routines along with animals are shared on social media. to CapitalsBeatrice said she and her husband have always had a passion for animals. Andre was already working in the field and already had some unusual types when they met 10 years ago.
“We saw that it was possible to have these animals at home legally and we started acquiring more and more species. We built pens and kept animals, because it was a shared passion,” he admitted.
When they started, Beatrice and Andre lived in Interlagos, south of São Paulo. She revealed that they began to put their dream into practice, especially after moving to the interior of São Paulo.
Beatrice explained, “It does not mean that all the animals stay inside the same house, but rather they all stay inside the floor.” However, this does not mean that the family does not have contact with all species.
With Alice’s birth, nothing changed. Animals were part of Beatrice and André’s routine and their home, and their daughter was “introduced” into the environment from the beginning of her life.
The mother said: “When she came out of the hospital, on the third day of her life, she got to know all the animals and since then she has always been in contact with them, and has always loved them. I can’t say if it’s because she actually grew up there, because she was born among them or if it’s something that was eventually passed on to us from her. Anyway, I just know that she is as passionate about animals as we are.”

Beatrice joked that although she had been bitten, pecked and scratched, Alice still loved animals and was never traumatized by anything. The girl’s relationship with animals has always been carried out consciously and responsibly by Andrei, who has been in the area for 24 years.

“We know (the animals’) limits, and we respect them a lot and we passed that on to my daughter. So, when she’s dealing with animals, she knows how far she can go, and which animal needs supervision for her to be able to handle, and we always follow safety protocols,” Beatrice said.
As a mother, this closeness to animals is so natural to Alice that she may not realize how different her life is from other people’s lives, let alone what a privilege it is to be able to have this connection. “But I think she likes this life very much,” he admitted.
Is it legal to have different animals?
According to Beatrice, it is not necessary to obtain a license to own animals owned by the family. What is necessary is to obtain animals from legal breeding sites, as these places have permission and documents from the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) to sell them.
“In addition, you also need to build the right space for each type,” he explained.
It is also necessary to manage the animals, which of course varies from one species to another. Nowadays, Beatrice and Andre have employees who help clean the building.
