A 27-year-old young man died a few hours after being recovered from cardiorespiratory arrest after falling into the sea in the Los Charcones area, in Yaiza (Lanzarote). The person concerned, who according to Canarias7 is of Italian origin, was fishing in … the area when it was swept away by a wave.
The person concerned was rescued and transferred in critical condition by medical ambulance to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, where she died shortly afterwards. The director of the Lanzarote Island Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, confirmed the death of the young man.
This new incident at sea, just days after a storm surge claimed the lives of four tourists in Tenerife, also recorded one moderate injury. It concerns a man, fisherman, also of Italian nationality and also residing in Yaiza, who managed to get out of the water by his own means and, at the initial moment of assistance, he presented hypothermia and moderate erosions. He was transferred to a basic resuscitation ambulance of the SUC at the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital.
The 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert informing them of the two people fall into the sea at 3:48 p.m. this Monday, the available resources have therefore been mobilized.
The rescue helicopter located the injured man and transported him to the emergency room, which confirmed that he was in cardiopulmonary arrest and carried out resuscitation maneuvers, both basic and advanced, thus obtaining reverse it. After stabilizing him, he was transferred in a medical ambulance to the aforementioned hospital.
In addition to the emergency and rescue helicopter of the Canary Islands Government, the Helimer maritime rescue helicopter, as well as a medical ambulance and another basic survival ambulance and resources from the Lanzarote Security, Emergency, Rescue, Prevention and Fire Extinguishing Consortium, the Civil Guard and the local police, also went to the scene.
