“My name is Pattie Gonia and I challenge Pete Hegseth to a pull-up competition. I will win,” is the challenge a drag artist threw to the US Secretary of Defense.
The drag artist, dressed in a leather top and skirt with a sort of tool belt hanging from it, appears doing the exercise non-stop in a video in which she issues the challenge. In the image you can read: “how a queer person who fights for the rights of ALL marginalized people does pull-ups. »
The reason why Pattie Gonia started this challenge is precisely the first thing seen in the video post: Hegseth himself, 45, is kicking in an attempt to somehow perform a full pull-up.
It happened last August, when Hegseth and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy challenged themselves to do 50 pull-ups and 100 push-ups in less than five minutes, all surrounded by Navy and Marine Corps soldiers.
The aim was to encourage his compatriots to get fit, but what went viral were the images showing the politician’s valiant efforts, which were widely ridiculed on social media.
In addition, Hegseth, known for numerous controversies, including his years of alcohol abuse, his complaints of sexual assault or accusations made by his own mother that he mistreated and used women, demanded last September that members of the army return “to the highest masculine standard.”
