Kast, arriving at the debate: “Our government program does not envisage any pardon”
The Republican Party candidate, José Antonio Kast, was the first to arrive at the studios of TVN, the Chilean public channel, where the Anatel debate is taking place. The ultraconservative standard-bearer, who arrived on the channel with his wife, Pía Adriasola, appeared at a previous press conference where he responded to criticism from the left-wing candidate, Jeannette Jara, who accused him of having evaded answers in previous meetings in which they participated. The former MP took with humor the questions on the use of the concept “it depends”, which he had resorted to to avoid providing detailed answers during the previous Archi forum. “There is a song called It dependsfrom Jarabe de Palo, which is very beautiful,” Kast said.
The Republican also reacted to the controversy sparked by the statements of José Carlos Meza, representative of his party, who declared that he would support pardons for the elderly, including those convicted of sexual abuse of minors. Kast said the initiative is a project currently under debate in Congress and is not part of his proposals. “Our government program does not envisage any pardon (…) the only ones who pardoned the aggressors and terrorists are in this government,” he declared.
