Photographer João Farkas will launch his new book, “Costa Norte”, this Wednesday (10), at Sesc Pompeia, in São Paulo.
At the event he will talk about his work with the journalist Fernando Gabeira, author of the volume’s afterword. Mediation will be provided by Maria Zulmira de Souza.
In the book, Farkas records areas of sparse human occupation, such as the Parnaíba River delta, the mouth of the Amazon River, the island of Marajó and the recesses of Maranhão. There are also texts by the photographer and articles by researcher Valdete Cecato.
According to Farkas, the publication is “an extensive documentary record, which also seeks ways to raise awareness and draw attention to the immense natural wealth” of the north coast.
