The Official Gazette of the State (BOE) published on Wednesday morning the dismissal of Antonio Hernández, right-hand man of Francisco Salazar during his time in Moncloa, from his position as director of the Policy Coordination Department of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government.
In a royal decree proposed by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, Antonio Hernández is to be dismissed after consultation by the Council of Ministers at its meeting on December 9, 2025.
This is an amicable dismissal between Moncloa and the now former Sánchez cabinet member, as confirmed by government sources to Europa Press, who also explained that since becoming aware of the former adviser’s situation, Hernández “understood that it was unsustainable” to remain in his position.
The government has defended that when it learned of the facts, it acted “vigorously as always” after women who worked for Salazar reported his inappropriate behavior in Ferraz’s internal reporting channels and Hernández was mentioned as an alleged “accomplice” and “cover-up” for the former socialist leader’s behavior.
The man who was Salazar’s right-hand man in Moncloa denies the facts but “understands that he has to resign for the good of the government.” According to the same sources, he also abdicated his responsibilities in the PSOE-A, where he was a member of the executive.
Salazar was already dismissed on July 5 as Secretary General for Institutional Coordination, the position he held in Moncloa until he was accused of sexually harassing women in his work environment, and he was also removed from his organic responsibilities in the leadership of the PSOE.
