The Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, described as “a scandal” the ruling of the Supreme Court that convicts former Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz of disclosing secrets, which he said was “not worthy” of the rule of law.
Sumar’s spokesman, after analyzing the contents of the resolution, also stated that García Ortiz was convicted “without evidence” and that he did not consider this verdict to be “serious” but rather an “auto-da-fé.”
“We believe that a crime has been committed and that it is a verdict with a more political intent, namely political interference in Spanish life, and not a verdict worthy of the rule of law,” he concluded, expressing with “the utmost force” his rejection of this court verdict.
