This Wednesday morning (10/12), the São Paulo Public Ministry (MPSP) is carrying out an operation against three civil police officers from the State Department of Prevention and Repression of Drug Trafficking (Denarc) suspected of passive corruption, active corruption and money laundering. Two of them were placed in preventive detention.
A lawyer is also targeted by the operation, suspected of involvement in a corruption and money laundering operation.

In addition to the arrests, teams are carrying out searches and seizures at residential addresses and at Denarc’s headquarters in Bom Retiro, central São Paulo. The court also ordered the seizure, removal and freezing of assets worth one million reais, exactly the amount identified in the investigation as the bribe paid by the lawyer to public officials, according to the prosecutor’s office.

According to the investigation, last year, a man who transported 345 kg of drugs in the double bottom of a refrigerated truck was arrested in flagrante delicto. Thanks to the violation of the confidentiality of telematic data, it was possible to access a video containing a dialogue about a payment to interrupt an investigation into the drug trafficker known as “Costurado”, a member of the PCC who works in the financial logistics of the faction. Even after the identification of a refining laboratory linked to Costurado in the town of Jarinu, in the interior of São Paulo, the investigation into it was halted.
The video, recorded on May 23, 2024, records a video call between three of the four targets and the summoning of the fourth target of the operation. “Shortly after this contact, public agents purchased properties which, as GAECO demonstrated in the request addressed to the judiciary, already possessed assets incompatible with the values they perceive of the State. The lawyer has already been convicted in a case of extortion by kidnapping and criminal association,” informed the MPSP.
