The vice-president of the Lula government in Congress, deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT-AP) declared that the President of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), had become “hostage of the ultra-right” to maintain his command of the House and that he had outlined a set of measures in favor of the Bolsonaristas.
Dorinaldo was one of the parliamentarians who tried to negotiate the departure of MP Glauber Braga (PSOL-RJ) from the presidency, before the parliamentarian was forcibly removed by the legislative police on Motta’s orders.
“The president (Motta) first gave the order to suspend the broadcast of TV Câmara and ordered that the plenary be emptied of technicians and advisers, after Glauber took the presidency,” he asserts.
The parliamentarian says that, on this basis, a transition team was formed with Motta by him and his colleagues Célia Xakriabá (PSOL-MG), Rogério Correia (PT-MG), Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP), Alencar Santana (PT-SP) and Carlos Veras (PT-PE), first secretary of the Chamber.
The committee was trying to convince Glauber to vacate Motta’s seat when, about ten minutes later, the House Speaker ordered the seat immediately vacated.
“We were surprised by how quickly we took extreme measures when there were negotiators around Glauber, negotiators who were also attacked,” he says.
He attributes Motta’s decision to pressure from parliamentarians supporting former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). “The president is hostage to the extreme right. Every agenda includes the ultra-right. Not only what happened with Glauber, but also all the measures that convinced Motta to adopt the agenda,” says the vice-president of the government in Congress.
Among the examples, Dorinaldo cites the dosimetry project, approved in the early hours of this Wednesday (10) by the plenary, in addition to the safety guidelines.
“The passage to home confinement for one sixth of the sentence is a step backwards. It is a contradiction in relation to what we voted for in the Antifaction project,” he said. “He (Motta) voted to dismantle the Antifaction project a few weeks later.”
