The power outage caused by windstorms in the city of São Paulo and the metropolitan region of the capital this Wednesday (10) is also already affecting the water supply.
In the capital of São Paulo, Sabesp says, the impact is partial and affects the neighborhoods of Americanópolis, Morumbi, Parelheiros, Parque do Carmo, Sacomã, Tucuruvi, Vila Clara, Vila Formosa, Vila Mariana and Vila Romana.
In Greater São Paulo, the problem affects the entire area of Embu das Artes, Itapecerica da Serra, Mauá, Santo André, Santa Isabel and Taboão da Serra.
The offer was also allocated to Cotia (Atalaia region), Osasco (Mutinga and Vila Iracema regions) and São Bernardo do Campo (Baeta Neves region).
Sabesp says that power has already been restored in some places, but that the return to supply is gradual. The population must therefore save water.
“Residential properties that have a water tank with a reserve for at least 24 hours of consumption, as determined by State Decree 12.342/78, may not even feel the effects,” a company statement said.
WIND LEAVES 2 MILLION WITHOUT LIGHT
Wind gusts in the capital São Paulo reached 98 km/h around 8 a.m., according to Civil Defense. Firefighters recorded 514 calls for falling trees around noon in the city due to the gale, in addition to five calls for flooding.
According to the concessionaire Enel, around 2:45 p.m., 2.02 million homes were without electricity in the São Paulo metropolitan area, including 1.3 million in the capital of São Paulo. In total, the impacts already affect a third of the Enel São Paulo concession. The municipalities of Juquitiba, Vargem Grande and Pirapora do Bom Jesus, in the metropolitan region, have more than 50% of customers without electricity, according to the Enel panel.
According to the company, 1,300 teams are working to restore supply to affected residents.
