Madrid, November 12 (European Press) –
Ukrainian authorities said Wednesday that Justice Minister German Galushenko has been sacked as a corruption investigation continues at state energy company Energoatom, a scandal that could affect several senior government officials.
The country’s Prime Minister, Yulia Sviridenko, indicated that “after an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, it was decided to remove him from his position,” according to information she published on her channel on the “Telegram” application.
Therefore, the duties performed by Galoshenko – who previously served as the country’s Energy Minister between 2021 and 2025 – will be temporarily assumed by the Deputy Minister of Justice for European Integration, Lyudmila Sojak.
Just two days ago, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced a special operation to uncover a major corruption case in the energy sector. Thus, investigators found evidence that members of an alleged criminal organization had built a large network of corruption to exert influence over government companies, including Energoatom.
So far, security forces have arrested five people for alleged involvement, including businessmen, former advisors to the Ministry of Energy, and workers, all of whom are accused of committing money laundering crimes.
