The accident occurred in the Vila Paulista neighborhood, in the Vila Inglesa region. Firefighters and municipal civil protection began search operations around 11 a.m., but the work was made difficult by the unfavorable conditions of the terrain.
With the ground extremely unstable and waterlogged, officers had to act cautiously when clearing the area to avoid further collapses that could injure rescuers. The victim was located under the rubble at 6 p.m. and was lifted out by teams. The work was officially completed at 7 p.m., when the body was handed over to the care of forensic experts.
The geological risk forced the authorities to preventively close three houses near the accident site. Eight homeless residents are receiving assistance from the town hall and have been sent to municipal reception centers. Monitoring in the area continues to assess the structural integrity of the surrounding area.
