
The municipal secretary of Sports and Leisure of Calumbi (PE), Numeriano Luiz de Sá, better known as Nô Numeriano (PRD), was arrested for attempted femicide on Tuesday morning (12/9). A retired military police sergeant, the 64-year-old used a wooden bat to beat his 57-year-old wife, who is undergoing treatment for cancer.
The crime took place in a family apartment in Recife, more than 400 kilometers from Calumbi, in the Pernambuco hinterland. Neighbors heard screams and called the police. A resident of the building broke into the apartment and broke up the fight.
The victim was treated by Samu and transported to a private hospital in Recife in serious condition. The woman lost three teeth, had a broken nose and had two abscesses in her eyes. She underwent surgery and, until Thursday morning (11/12), she remained hospitalized in stable condition.
The couple frequently visited Recife, where the woman had been undergoing treatment for bowel cancer since 2021.

Nô Numeriano underwent a custody hearing and saw his arrest transformed into a preventive arrest. In the decision, Judge Blanche Maymone Pontes Matos, of the Specialized Guarantees Center of the capital, affirms that the arrest aims to guarantee “the physical integrity of the victim”.
The judge also emphasized that the secretary had committed a crime “with extreme violence”.
Nô Numeriano tried to be elected councilor of Calumbi in 2024, but without success.
