Several managers of the Chinese brand Lepas, belonging to the Chery group, held a telematic meeting with media specializing in automobiles and mobility where they shared details about the models they are preparing to launch in Europe as well as the plans to market these vehicles in our country.
From the conversation it appears that after the already more or less known Lepas L8, the firm intends to launch the L6 models, 4.55 meters long, and L4, this one 4.40 meters long. Both will be offered in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and 100% electric (BEV) versions.
The plug-in L6 will have a range of between 90 and 100 kilometers in zero-emission mode and the pure electric L6 will have around 460 km of range between charges. For its part, the L4 plugin It will have the same range as its big brother and its BEV variant will be able to travel around 440 km.
As for the L8, a 4.69 meter long SUV, we have already published here that aesthetically it adopts the Leopard Aesthetics design language and presents a visual line that aims to combine robustness and aerodynamics. Inside, it introduces its own comfort and connectivity solutions, according to Lepas, from higher ranges and which include seats with massage and ventilation, folding trays, high-fidelity audio equipment and a multimedia center equipped with a Qualcomm 8155 chip to guarantee fluidity and rapid response in voice interactions.
The variable seat configuration adapts to different scenarios, such as nap mode, rest mode or cinema mode. The car also has more than twenty driver assistance systems, as well as automatic and remote parking.
Regarding the L6, executives said it carries over the design language of the L8, uniquely tailored to the preferences of “young families and urban elites.” The vehicle, based on the concept of “technology that understands your needs”, houses an evolution of the driver-machine interface “from simple functional satisfaction to emotional resonance, especially for the younger generation”.
All Lepas models are based on an intelligent platform that integrates the battery, motor and control systems with the aim of guaranteeing efficiency, stability and warmth. It’s a technology that aspires to make every journey “smoother, safer and more refined,” the company reports.
The Chinese brand develops the color philosophy that it applies to its models, always with the aspiration of transmitting “passion, elegance and a quality lifestyle”. With nature being the main source of inspiration, colors based on natural elements were selected, such as the green of Nordic forests and the orange of summer leaves.
In addition, the European market has been taken into account, in particular Spain, where preferences for classic colors predominate, as well as the trends of younger generations, who tend to look towards lighter shades in electric models. The resulting palette combines nature, market preferences and generational trends.
A distinct commercial network
As for the commercial network, Lepas plans to operate in our country independently and therefore will not share a dealership with other Chery brands, such as Omoda or Jaecoo. Launch plans call for the L8 to officially arrive in June, with the possibility of moving it forward to May if time permits, while the L4 and L6 models will be introduced between September and November.
At the same time, the brand is already negotiating with resellers and renovation companies in order to have around fifty points of sale in Spain by next year.
Lepas has not communicated the prices of the vehicles it plans to sell nor has it given any clues about the possibility of manufacturing at least some of them in the Barcelona factory. Regarding European expansion, Spain will not be the only market in which the Chinese firm operates, and we will witness its premiere in a dozen countries of the Old Continent, in accordance with the plans announced at the meeting.
