According to the investigation, Gilmara, who was directly responsible for the transportation, was appointed by an intermediary to transport the shipment from São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro.
The plan stipulates that, upon arrival in the capital, Rio de Janeiro, the app’s driver will call her to collect the boxes and deliver them to Complexo do Alemão, a historic stronghold of the Comando Vermelho (CV) faction.
Gilmara was caught red-handed and charged with illegal firearms trafficking.
The incident occurred after weeks of surveillance by intelligence teams from Desarmé, Operation Foucault, and Police 17, which traced possible routes for sending weapons to Rio.
The information led agents to a tourist bus intercepted at the Nhangabe tax center in Itataya, south of Rio de Janeiro. During the search, police found three cardboard boxes each containing six pillows, and their unusual weight raised suspicions.
Upon opening the material, agents discovered 30 semi-automatic handguns of various calibers and 63 magazines, carefully packed and hidden inside the pillows.
Police described the shipment as a military arsenal capable of supplying entire armed groups in communities dominated by the faction.
