The presence of Leonardo Martins as a pre-candidate for state deputy also indicates a desire of the party to form competitive lists.
Former governor Yeda Crusius (PSDB) is expected to run for Senate in the 2026 elections. The move marks the Tucana’s possible return to electoral competition after a period of absence from public office. Alongside him, the PSDB also presented the name of Leonardo Martins as a pre-candidate for the position of state deputy.
Yeda, an economist and teacher, has a long history in public life. She served as a federal deputy for three terms and gained national recognition as rapporteur of the Fiscal Responsibility Act. In 2006, she became the first woman elected governor of Rio Grande do Sul, a position she held until 2010. Throughout her career, she divided opinions, faced political crises and internal conflicts, but also left recognized marks in areas such as fiscal responsibility.
The movement highlights that Yeda is trying to regain prominence in a state political scenario. The presence of Leonardo Martins as a pre-candidate for state deputy also indicates a desire of the party to form competitive lists and strengthen its representation in the Legislative Assembly in 2026.
