Hugo Calderano is eliminated from the Hong Kong WTT Finals singles tournament. The Brazilian table tennis player lost this Thursday (11/12) against Frenchman Félix Lebrun, with a score of 4 sets to 2 (partials of 5/11, 12/10, 11/6, 8/11, 11/8 and 11/7).
Lebrun is an indigestible rival for Calderano. The Frenchman was the tormentor of the Brazilian at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. Despite a difficult opponent, the 29-year-old São Paulo won with an 11/5 on the scoreboard.
However, Hugo saw Lebrun dominate the match, with two partials of 12/10 and 11/6. Calderano still tried to come back into the match, with an 11/8, but the Frenchman also won the last set by 11/8 and closed the match 4 x 2.
With this, Calderano will only compete in the doubles category, alongside Bruna Takahashi. They remain alive in Group 2 of the competition after their victory against Spaniards Álvaro Robles and Maria Xiao.
