Putin closes ranks with Maduro after the reappearance of María Corina and the seizure of an oil tanker by the United States

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on Thursday and assured him of Moscow’s support for his government’s policies in the face of growing external pressure, the Kremlin reported.

Maduro is facing pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump to leave office as the United States carries out a large military deployment in the Caribbean.

The Kremlin said in a statement that Putin and Maduro discussed their desire to follow through on their strategic partnership agreement and implement several joint projects related to the economy and energy sector.
