Camila Pitanga gave new details on Ellen’s return to Dona de Mim during Mais Você this Thursday (12/11). The actress said the character, presumed dead in the first chapters, would return to compete for custody of Sofia (Elis Cabral) after surviving a serious illness, something she only discovered after recording her first scenes.
The artist explained that, shortly after finishing the first appearances, she received an unexpected call from author Rosane Svartman and that’s when she knew that Ellen would not only survive, but also gain a new dramatic arc.
“I recorded my scenes with the certainty that Ellen was dead, but a month later I received a call from Rosane. I was convinced that this story could be interesting, that there was a dispute between many people who really love Sofia over custody, and that the mother could also be involved in this,” he recalled.
In conversation with Ana Maria Braga, Camila detailed the character’s state of health. Ellen was diagnosed with cervical cancer and is still suffering its after-effects.
“There will even be a colostomy bag. It’s a disease that kills a lot of women. My character, however, has been treated and decides to come back after learning that Vanderson (Armando Babaioff) is dead,” Camila revealed.
The actress also said that Ellen would lead a life full of contradictions after her recovery, surviving minor blows, but driven by true affection for her biological daughter. “Her fear was that, if she came back, this attacker would find them too,” he explained, justifying the character’s prolonged absence.
