Governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) said Thursday (11), in São Paulo, that the dosimetry PL was “what was possible at the moment” and maintained that it was necessary to seek “new measures” to amnesty Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
“(PL Dosimetry) is what is possible at the moment. I understand that we must seek a path of pacification, of reestablishing justice. We must take the possible measures, what was politically possible, that’s it,” he said.
Tarcísio, left aside by the former president in the presidential nomination next year, had been one of the main organizers of the vote that approved the emergency regime, in September, for the amnesty project, approved on the 17th of that month.
At the time, when he was nominated as a presidential candidate by the leaders of the main center-right parties, the governor spent two days in Brasilia to negotiate approval of the text.
The proposal, however, was approved in group with the Blindagem PEC, which was rejected by the population and led to protests across the country against the rules approved by the House. The PEC ended up being buried in the Senate, and the Amnesty PL became the Dosimetry PL – which reduces the sentences of those convicted on January 8, but does not release them from their sentence.
Tarcísio was questioned on this subject during a ceremony to hand over housing, part of the costs of which is covered by the government, in Carapicuíba, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
“We will move forward with this step and we will think about the next ones later,” the governor said.
Also in August, a few days before starting the articulation in Congress, Tarcísio declared, in an interview with Diário do Grande ABC, that, if elected president, he would grant amnesty to Bolsonaro “from the first day, first act”.
The text is currently in the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Committee) of the Senate, under the report of Senator Esperidião Amin (PP-SC). This week, during an event at the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, Tarcísio said he did not consider himself a political organizer who promotes dinners, and that he would focus on his re-election in São Paulo.
