The Faculty of Law of USP (University of São Paulo) decided this Thursday (11) to fire Alysson Mascaro, professor accused of sexual harassment and abuse by students.
In a unanimous decision, the congregation found the reports against the teacher valid.
The investigation at the USP lasted more than eight months. On February 12, the institution opened a PAD (Administrative Disciplinary Process) against Mascaro. The procedure took place at the request of the institution’s general prosecutor’s office, which, in a preliminary report, highlighted signs of materiality in the accusations.
When contacted, Mascaro’s defense said it was preparing a memo on the decision.
Law School students and former students who accuse Alysson Mascaro of sexual abuse told the report that the professor lured victims to his apartment by offering them academic advice.
One of them, invited by Mascaro for a conversation in 2022, said he was forced to undress and hug the professor. Mascaro is said to have said that he imitated the relationships between philosophers and their disciples in ancient Greece.
