On January 20, 2021, they met for lunch in Madrid Santos Cerdan, Vicente Fernández Guerrero And Leire Diez. And it wasn’t the first or only time they met to talk about their business.
They formed a triangle in which much of the overlapping scandals now surrounding the government of Pedro Sanchez.
Two of them were arrested on Wednesday and another was in prison until a month ago. They configure an essential relationship to know different plots related to each other.
By chance, on February 20, they met in the same restaurant an eminent minister – very close to Pedro Sánchez – and two journalists, witnesses. The minister now remembers the chance meeting to which he did not then attach importance.
At least the relationship between the three dates back to that time, although Leire Díez recently assured the Senate Commission of Inquiry that she only started her relationship with Santos Cerdán in 2024.
And he also spoke of very sporadic meetings, which obviously did not include this meal with the head of the PSOE Organization at the time, which was also attended by the former president of SEPI.
Fernández left SEPI in October 2019 for being accused in the Aznalcóllar case.

On the day of the restaurant date, he wore his hair long because he had promised not to cut his hair until he was cleared.
He was then unable to keep his promise as the case dragged on until this week, where he was finally acquitted.
The position of president of SEPI had been vacant for 19 months at the express request of Maria Jesus MonteroFernández’s protector. A gesture rarely accomplished with a public function, which gives an idea of the level of confidence placed in him by the head of the Treasury.
Leire Díez was responsible for communications at the public uranium company, where she arrived accompanied by Jose Luis Abalosafter the two met during the PSOE primaries. The former minister is another very important name in the various plots around Sánchez.
As of January 2021, Leire Díez held a position at Correos and also helped Fernández obtain his dismissal. For example, he went to the media to publish information favorable to his interests. He did this to fulfill Montero’s wish to try to obtain the dismissal.
Santos Cerdán was then organizational secretary of the PSOE and, according to the UCO and according to the Supreme Court judge, he was already part of a corruption plot.
close friendship
This January 20, 2021, the aforementioned minister was eating with two journalists on the upper floor of the Dantxari restaurant, next to the Plaza de España in Madrid and not far from the socialist headquarters of Ferraz.
At the end of this meal, the three went downstairs and, at the foot of the stairs, came upon a round table where Leire Díez, Santos Cerdán and Vicente Fernández were (in that order clockwise) in relaxed conversation.
Obviously, the minister and the journalists knew Cerdán and Fernández, and that is why they greeted each other cordially. Some of them presented Leire Díez as a “journalist”, without further details.
She was already a friend of Fernández and worked for Cerdán in what is called the “plumbing” of the PSOE. Indeed, a few days after this chance meeting, Fernández contacted one of the journalists to put him in contact with Leire Díez with the aim of having her give him information on the case. Aznalcóllar case to help exonerate him.
Contact never took place, but this shows that the plumber I’ve worked with him before. In fact, they continued to maintain a close friendship.
A few months after this meal, the former president of SEPI signed for Sevinabar, the company of the then organizational secretary of the PSOE and his associate Antxon Alonso. Clearly, Fernández already had a relationship with Cerdán, as evidenced by the February 2021 fellowship meal.
The former president of SEPI was in a meeting with representatives of Acciona (one of whom is now indicted) and with Joseba Antxón Alonsopartner of Cerdán and co-owner of Servinabar. The latter, arrested this Thursday, also had close relations with Montero’s protégé.
This was the Santos Cerdán-Vicente Fernández-Leire Díez triangle in full swing, with Antxon Alonso as its leading partner.
