Through a regulation published in the Official Gazette this Friday National Drug, Food and Medical Device Administration (Anmat) banned “the use, marketing, advertising, publication and distribution throughout the national territory” of a range of the brand’s hair products Lazio’s professional because they do not have health registration information on their label and were considered “illegitimate” and dangerous.
As can be seen from the document signed by Nélida Agustina Bisio, the head of the organization, the brand’s restricted products were: a cauterizing laminate, a hair botox, a keratin, a final straightening, a straightening Golda straightening with “3D mirror effect 3 in 1”, a straightening with “4D mirror effect 4 in 1” and a hair straightening with nanoplastic.
In this regard, Anmat assured that during market control measures carried out by the Personal Hygiene Cosmetic Products Service of the Department of Household Hygiene, Cosmetics and Personal Hygiene Products of the Directorate of Monitoring, Evaluation and Management of Health Products (DEYGMPS), the presence of Lazios Professional products without registration data was detected, for which an investigation was initiated.
The department consulted the database of registered cosmetics and found no products that matched the registration of the labeled products. Additionally, she warned that hair straighteners marketed without proper health registration are a “serious risk” for health because they could contain formaldehyde (Formaldehyde) as a smoothing agent.
“The use of formalin for straightening hair is not permitted as it may lead to exposure to toxic fumes, which can cause various harmful effects on the health of the user and user. Hair straighteners based on formalin can cause these.” various side effects after acute exposure, such as irritation, redness, burning, itching of the skin or eyes, tearing, irritation of the throat, nose, cough, sensitization and serious respiratory changes,” he explained.
He also warned that consumption of this substance with chronic exposure can cause everything from hypersensitivity and allergic dermatitis to an increased likelihood of developing carcinomas, particularly nasopharyngeal carcinomas.
“In order to protect potential users from the effects resulting from the use of the products in question, their use, marketing, advertising, publication and distribution are prohibited, since they are illegal products that are not registered with Anmat, whose manufacturing plant is unknown and for which it is therefore not possible to provide guarantees as to their effectiveness, safety or formulation with ingredients permitted by the regulations currently in force,” he explained.
