Washington, December 11 (EFECOM). – The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Thursday an agreement on semiconductors that will be signed this week with Japan, Australia, Singapore and South Korea under the name “Pax Silica Initiative”. The aim is to promote economic policy geared towards artificial intelligence.
“Not doing this would have been a great gift to many countries, but especially to China,” Trump said from the Oval Office as he reported on the deal.
According to a State Department statement, the initiative aims to unite nations with the most advanced technology companies to unlock the economic potential of AI, taking into account shared strategic assets such as computers, silicon, minerals and energy.
The Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Canada and the European Union will also take part in the Pax Silica summit, which will take place in Washington this Friday.
“Countries will explore multi-dimensional alliances to strengthen supply chain security, reduce coercive dependencies, protect critical points and promote trusted technology ecosystems in areas such as semiconductors, connectivity, advanced manufacturing and energy,” the State Department said in a statement.
