“The PP can count on us”. This was the leitmotif of the traditional Christmas dinner organized this Thursday evening by the Popular Party of Valencia, in the presence of Mayor María José Catalá; the president of the Generalitat, Juan … Francisco Pérez Llorca; the general secretary of the PP, Miguel Tellado and the provincial president, Vicent Mompó, accompanied by more than 500 activists.
An act that allowed Pérez Llorca, Catalá and Mompó, the three main swords of the people of the Valencian Community, to leave behind any trace of confrontation to occupy the space left by former president Carlos Mazón after his resignation due to his management of the dana emergency of October 29, 2024.
The current secretary general of the PPCV, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, thanked him as president of the Generalitat for the national leadership and also for his colleagues in the party: “I will return all the affection with great effort and dedication.” According to popular sources, the process for him to become president of the party at the regional level to replace Mazón should take place before Christmas, therefore in the coming days.
“I have been mayor for many years and there I learned to stand alongside people, particularly by listening to them. I don’t want to lose it municipal heart that I have, even though I am president of the Generalitat. That’s why the first thing I wanted to do was show up and go to the cities that Dana was impacting. There I walked the streets, in Picanya and Paiporta, and people showed me their hope. With this hope, we will carry out the reconstruction,” said Pérez Llorca.
The popular leader emphasized, regarding the management of Catalá, the third capital of Spain, that “those who tell me that I am a continuityist, I tell them that I am a continuityist for good, because things have been done very well here, such as families who do not pay for daycare, urgent waiting lists in the field of health have decreased considerably or support for sectors like agriculture, ceramics, fishing or businesses throughout the Community that have made great progress.”
For her part, Mayor Catalá took stock of the two years of government at Valencia City Hall: “We are the party that reduced taxes three years in a row, that built 1,000 social housing units compared to the 14 of Compromís and the PSOE in eight years, we are the party that built public facilities and infrastructure with new schools, sports centers and social and cultural centers. “We are the party that focuses most on the safety of our neighbors with 200 new police officers, and we are the party that defends our identity.”
The first councilor stressed that the PP of the city of Valencia is a party “strong and united”. “A party which, two and a half years ago, won in each of the districts of the city of Valencia. A party that, two and a half years ago, achieved the change this city needed after eight years of decline and apathy from Compromís and the Socialist Party. It is the Party that made this city shine again,” he explained.
“We are a united legion representing a sovereign city. Loyalty, work, common sense and pride. The Popular Party can count on us. The Community Popular Party can count on us. Mr. President, you can count on us,” insisted the mayor.
Orders to the PSOE
Both had the opportunity to launch different attacks against the PSOE and the critical situation it is going through, plagued by multiple scandals. “Faced with corruption, prostitution paid for with public money and harassment of women that the PSOE silences», the mayor recalled that Valencia has created a pioneering center throughout Spain to help women victims of gender-based violence and has approved, for the first time, maternity assistance and conciliation assistance. “This, dear colleagues, works for equality and women’s rights, and not for the false feminism of the PSOE,” he stressed.
Llorca spoke in favor of the Socialists and exposed the differences that, according to him, exist between the two parties: “We recognize our mistakes, we are not like the PSOE which hides them, even in cases as serious as those we are currently seeing.”
On the other hand, Catalá once again claims the development of a South Metropolitan Plan which serves to create infrastructure that protects the entire city and its metropolitan area from flooding like the one experienced on October 29, 2024. “We will not tolerate being ignored. Not with me. We represent the doubly faithful city of Valencia. Not a step back, not a meter to work, not a lost opportunity,” he maintained.
