They are calling for a march for victims of adulterated fentanyl
The tragedy caused by adulterated fentanyl will once again take center stage on the public scene on Tuesday, December 16, when the victims’ relatives mobilize again in Plaza Moreno in La Plata to demand urgent answers from the government and concrete progress in health research. The call will take place at 6 p.m. and is part of a simultaneous action that will also take place at the flag monument in Rosario.
Organizers stressed that the march aims to maintain visibility of what they call “the greatest pharmacological tragedy in Argentine history,” with 173 deaths following medical procedures involving contaminated fentanyl. Under the slogan “Truth and Justice for the Victims of Adulterated Fentanyl,” the families will insist on immediate meetings with the Ministry of Health and with the head of ANMAT, Agustina Bisio, a date that has been postponed despite repeated formal requests.
The families point out that almost a year after the case broke out, national health authorities continue to provide no explanation for the chain of failures that allowed the adulterated fentanyl – manufactured by HLB Pharma Group SA and produced by Laboratorios Ramallo SA – to reach hospitals and clinics in various provinces. In recent weeks, a new report from the Forensic Medical Corps confirmed this line of investigation. Of the 40 medical records analyzed – from a total of 173 victims – 38 showed a direct link to the adulterated drug, data that confirmed the central hypothesis of the file of La Plata Federal Judge Ernesto Kreplak. Meanwhile, families stress that the justice system is “the only area where they see concrete progress.”
