The Fiat 500 Hybrid celebrates its deep connection with the Mirafiori factory in Turin, where passion, tradition and innovation meet, with a new generation of this automobile icon which returns to the market with hybrid technology, a renewed design, … more comfort and a price that starts at 17,300 euros.
Production of the model has already started in mid-November, with the aim of manufacturing more than 5,000 vehicles by the end of 2025. It is offered in Hatchback, 3+1 and Cabrio versions in three distinctive finishes: Pop, Icon and La Prima, as well as in a special Turin launch series.
After years of back-and-forth in product strategy, the 500 is once again manufactured at Mirafiori, the same factory that saw the birth of the original model in 1957. This historical nod, combined with an update in design, equipment and efficiency, places it once again at the center of the European urban market.
The 500 Hybrid 2026 is only available with the already known three-cylinder 1.0 FireFly, a 12 V MHEV system which develops 65 hp and is associated with a six-speed manual transmission. Thanks to its weight and the engine, it can travel in an urban environment with a consumption of no more than 5 liters, which, with its 35 liter tank, allows it to travel more than twice as many kilometers as the 100% electric version.
It doesn’t seek performance, but it behaves without problem in an urban environment. 0 to 100 km/h takes around 16.2 seconds (17.2 in the Cabrio) and the top speed is 155 km/h. In return, with an official consumption of 5.3 l/100 km, a figure which corresponds to what we expect from a microhybrid of this size.
Visually, the 500 Hybrid 2026 retains this recognizable formula that has always worked: compact proportions, rounded shapes and a well-balanced retro air. The novelty lies in the details: LED headlights in the higher versions, new colors and an interior that takes up the design of the electric, with a more refined and technological presentation.
It maintains the base of the electric 500, but is larger than the previous combustion 500. It now measures 3.63 meters long1.68 meters wide and 1.53 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.32 meters. This increase in dimensions results in a more comfortable driving position, a slightly larger passenger compartment and greater stability on the road, without losing its ability to move with absolute ease in urban traffic. The trunk retains a capacity similar to that of the electric trunk, with 185 liters, sufficient for daily use in the city.
Inside, it commits to a balanced mix between design, simplicity and digitalization. It’s not a stuffy interior, but it conveys that Italian air so characteristic of the model, with a more organized presentation and materials that, without being luxurious, are pleasant to the touch.
The centerpiece is the 10.25-inch touchscreen (depending on version), integrated into a horizontal surface which runs along the dashboard and allows information to be read clearly without taking your eyes off the road. Next to it is the 7-inch digital instrumentation, which offers simple and customizable graphics, sufficient for a car designed primarily for an urban environment.
One of the keys to the new 500 Hybrid is its commitment to offering reasonable equipment right from the entry level. The Pop finish already includes 7-inch digital instrumentation, air conditioning, cruise control, keyless start or rear sensors, in addition to the usual provision of driving aids in a modern city car.
The Icon adds alloy wheels, air conditioning and the 10.25-inch Uconnect multimedia system, with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This is probably the balance point of the range.
Above is Torino, the special series that adds distinctive elements such as full LED headlights, specific coverings and aesthetic details inspired by the city where the model was born.
At the top is La Primawhich focuses on more sophisticated comfort: 17-inch rims, panoramic roof, heated seats, wireless charger, navigation and more complete driving assistants, including blind spot monitoring or rear camera.
