Granada, December 12 (EFE). – Covirán Granada visits the MoraBanc Andorra pitch this Saturday in a key match to intervene in the battle for consistency that the Andalusian team urgently faces due to its bad period and which is in complete upheaval due to the many recent changes in the squad.
The team led by Ramón Díaz has been in the relegation zone all season and has only won one game in the nine games played, a poor figure that it shares with San Pablo Burgos.
The Granadans have a unique opportunity to fully commit to the fight for salvation in Andorra, as MoraBanc is one of the teams that made a lasting impression by winning three games.
Ramón Díaz’s team comes to Andorra at a bad time, as on the last day they lost heavily at home, 83-92, against Casademont Zaragoza, another direct opponent of the rescue, against whom they showed a poor performance.
Apart from this game against the Maños, Covirán Granada’s biggest deficit this season is its away games, as it has left bad feelings in all of them, losing to teams in its league such as BAXI Manresa, Hiopos Lleida, Río Breogán and Basquet Girona.
The Nasrids no longer have on their roster the center Iván Aurrecoechea, who has ended his relationship with the company by mutual consent, nor the American center Zach Hankins, who has activated an existing clause in his contract to move to a Euroleague team, in this case the Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Also missing for the second week in a row are Finnish striker Elias Valtonen and Montenegrin defender Jovan Kljajic, two key men on coach Ramón Díaz’s board who were injured with their respective national teams.
Covirán Granada, which wants to strengthen its squad with a guard and a center as quickly as possible, has only eleven players in its rotation for the game against MoraBanc, and two of them are the forwards Edu Durán and Pere Tomás, international players who have barely played this season.
Among those available are the French striker William Howard and the Ghanaian center player Amida Brimah, who despite being a new addition to the team made her debut against Casademont Zaragoza and now has to take a step forward and contribute a lot.
Covirán Granada have lost their three games in the Endesa League in Andorra, so the challenge this Saturday is huge if they do not want to extend their poor run of results. EFE
